Senior Profile: Akanksha Radadia
by Sonia Ivancic

Akanksha started dancing when she was 6 years old. She had previously attended a different dance school and was nervous when she first entered Shishya because of how different it seemed, but quickly realized how warm and welcoming our community is. The first dance she remembers learning is the Alarippu where she was introduced to how we learn and perfect dances collaboratively here at Shishya.
During the Zoom years which fell in the middle of her Shishya career, she found it hard to properly learn steps, but soon the online classes became the norm and her class was still able to communicate and have fun together. This year, Akanksha was part of our Carnegie Hall team, and it is definitely her favorite Shishya memory, along with all the excitement that came with our many long rehearsals to prepare. Her favorite piece is one she is learning now, the Senior Item, because it is her first time being involved in the choreographic process.

This collaborative aspect has been one other favorite part of her Shishya experience, from picking music together to dancing with friends, she has loved her time in the Shishya community. Congrats Akanksha and we will miss you next year!
