Artistic Director and Founder

Guru 'Kalashree' Sukanya Mahadevan has been teaching since 1997 and is a sought after dancer, teacher and choreographer. Her main motive in teaching Bharathanatyam is to pass this love for the art to her students so they can carry the torch forward and continue to maintain and grow this divine ancient art form and continue propagating it to the future generations. Freelance Teachers

We have 4 freelance teachers this year- 3 of them are student teachers and one assistant teacher, all teaching different Beginners level classes.

Beginner level technique teacher

Sandhya Mahadevan is a recent add to the Shishya roster. She focuses on teaching basic movement and technique using fun strategies, to our youngest members. She is currently attending the Pennington School and has recently completed her arangetram track at Shishya.

Besides our main teachers, we have advanced students constantly rotating through and learning to teach. Our classes have student teachers assisting with the younger children as well. This is our well established student teacher /mentorship program, run as a volunteer program.
WE ALSO HAVE A RESIDENT CARNATIC VOCAL TEACHER ON STAFF FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN VOICE LESSONS.
