Senior Spotlight 4

Senior Profile: Eesha Srinivasan

by Sonia Ivancic

Eesha has been dancing for most of her life. As a child who was always active and dancing around the house, she first began ballet classes at age 3 or 4. She still has fond memories of tap classes and practicing her pliés at home. Soon after, she joined Shishya. Her earliest memories are learning the Asamyuta hastas from her beloved student teacher Srinidhi Viswanathan.

As she began progressing through the dance levels, the hardest dance she learned was Aigiri Nandini, specifically the jathi portion, since she had to work on her stamina. Her favorite dance was Nagendra Haraya, since she got to perform it multiple times and perfect the bhakthi bhava. A memory that will always stick with her is her first solo performance that she did when she was still a young dancer. She remembers feeling proud that Aunty had put her faith in her to deliver the dance and represent Shishya by herself.

When Shishya moved to online classes, Eesha’s group was learning the Dashavataram so it was disappointing not being able to perform the item together with each person cycling around  the stage to perform their avatar as usual. These online classes quickly began to feel normal and Eesha was glad her group could still feel proud of their work by having virtual annual days both years.

Eesha has been a soft, caring, and conscientious presence at Shisahy since day one. She has been a blog co-editor for the past three years and has really enjoyed all her performance opportunities and how the school has transformed her from a student into a dancer. Eesha is planning to study the humanities in college where she definitely aspires to continue dancing. Congrats Eesha and thanks for all you have done at Shishya!
